This program is seeking two art writers whose forward-thinking insights connect across boundaries, bridging cultural communities in ways both big and small. There’s a $10,000 stipend.

NXTHVN Fellowship (International)
Each year, NXTHVN welcomes up to seven artists and two curators to participate in a 10-month intensive fellowship. Each fellow receives studio or office space, a stipend, and subsidized housing. Curatorial stipends are $45,000, and studio fellow stipends are $35,000.

Quinn Emanuel Artist-in-Residence Program (Greater Los Angeles)
This residency is open to emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplines. Bemis Center Spring and Summer 2026 Residencies (International)

Art 64 Live Painting Competition (International)
For the last three years, ART 64 has taken over the village of Wauwatosa, Wisconsin. In a head-to-head, bracket-style painting tournament, 64 artists paint live for two days, while spectators vote for their favorites. Artists are incentivized throughout the competition, with a grand prize of $20,000.

SMACH Public Art Biennial Open Call (International)

This innovative and timely initiative provides large-scale experiences with topics addressing humans’ connection to nature, beauty in the landscape, biodiversity, conservation, sustainability, and climate change, along with a stipend and a construction budget for fabrication and installation expenses.

Bosch Parade 2026 (International)
Nothing and nobody is perfect, and defects are everywhere. The Bosch Parade 2026 pays tribute to all these imperfections, sailing under the title Powered by defect from June 18 to 21, 2026. Artists and collectives of all disciplines are eligible to submit their proposals for the bi-annual floating parade.

Spring 2025 QEST Grants (U.K.)
QEST offers three grants to support makers and conservators at various career stages, supporting contemporary and traditional craft, as well as the exploration of innovative techniques. Three scholarships and grants range from £3,000 to £18,000.

LA Arts Community Fire Relief Fund (Los Angeles)
Led by the J. Paul Getty Trust with support from a coalition of major arts organizations and philanthropists, this fund is available to artists and arts workers in all disciplines impacted by the unprecedented wildfire crisis. Individuals may apply only once for up to $10,000. Funds are unrestricted, do not count as taxable income, and can be used in any way that alleviates financial hardship.
Deadline: 5:00 p.m. PST on February 18, 2025.

Asian Women Giving Circle Grants (New York City)
The AWGC’s request for proposals is open to both 501(c)(3) organizations and individual artists. Projects must highlight women and gender-expansive people’s leadership and/or central role and demonstrate a commitment to NYC-based communities. Six to eight project grants will be awarded, contingent on available funding. The maximum grant amount is $8,000.

These summer residencies offer artists uninterrupted time in a state-of-the-art ceramics studio. During a session, up to eighteen artists form a creative community while living and working on campus. Participants enjoy 24-hour studio access, accommodations, and meals. Seven themed sessions are offered. Full and partial scholarships are available.
Deadline: February 1, 2025.

Kala Institute Artist-in-Residence Program (International)
Artists working in various printmaking techniques, photo processes, book arts, and digital media can apply for this program. The fellowship includes a $3,000 stipend, 24/7 access to Kala’s facilities for one to nine months, one month of free housing, a free Kala class or workshop, and participation in a group exhibition at Kala Gallery. There is a $25 fee to apply.

Artists in Residence in Everglades (AIRIE) Residencies (International)
The AIRIE Residency program is a fully immersive experience that revolves around the core principles of process, experimentation, and expanding one’s artistic practice. The residency offers a $4,000 research grant, institutional support from AIRIE’s network and partners, and a month-long residency in Everglades National Park (with an additional $1,500 financial support for travel and food). There is a $20 application fee.

MacDowell Fellowship (International)
Artists of all backgrounds working in architecture, film/video arts, interdisciplinary arts, literature, music composition, theater, and visual arts are eligible. Long Meadow Residency (U.S.)
Long Meadow Art Residency is a six-week to three-month solo residency in the Berkshire Mountains. LMAR offers studio space, housing, a $3,000 monthly living stipend, a $2,500 supply budget, and access to a vehicle for transportation.

The Watermill Center Summer Program (International)

All types of photographic work will be considered for this annual survey exhibition, which has an open theme. Context 2025 will run from March 7 to April 19. A juror’s choice award, which includes a $500 cash prize, and an honorable mention will be awarded. There is a $35 application fee.

Royal Society of British Artists 2025 Exhibition (International)
The RBA Annual Exhibition brings together the society’s members to showcase their work alongside a selection of works by non-members. The exhibition offers major accolades, including The Huaicun Zhang Award, which offers two £5,000 awards, one for a member and the other for a non-member. Numerous other prizes are also offered. The application fee is £20 per work or £14 per work for artists aged 35 or under.

2025 Aperture Portfolio Prize (International)
This competition aims to identify trends in contemporary photography and highlight artists whose work deserves greater recognition. The prize is open exclusively to Aperture magazine print subscribers. The first prize winner will be published in the magazine and receive $5,000, a $1,000 gift card to shop for gear at Mpb.com, and a presentation in New York City. Women’s Studio Workshop Artist Book Residency Grant (International)
The Artist’s Book Grant is a six- to eight-week residency for artists to produce a limited edition book work. Working intensively in WSW’s studios, artists print and bind their own books. The grant includes a stipend of $350 per week, up to $1,000 for materials, up to $250 for travel within the Continental U.S., free onsite housing, and 24/7 studio access.

NYLAAT Artists-in-Residence Program 2025 (International)

Watermill Center Artist Residency Program (International)
Solo artists or collaborative groups working in a wide range of disciplines are invited to apply. The program is process-based, without the expectation or promise of a final exhibition of the work. Participants have access to 20,000 square feet of rehearsal/design spaces and outdoor stages, a theater production archive, a study library, and ten-acre landscaped grounds and gardens. Women@MIT Fellowship (International)
MIT Libraries’ Department of Distinctive Collections (DDC) is seeking applicants for its 2025 Women@MIT Fellowship. Artists, activists, musicians, writers, and scholars are invited to apply. The selected fellow(s) will work with the Women@MIT project archivist and other staff within the DDC. The fellowship is supported by a stipend of $5,000 for each project, and up to two projects will be selected per year.

Montello Foundation Residency (International)
This two-week program is meant to be a retreat from the urban environment. It will provide a new perspective for residents’ work and give residents space and time for undisturbed experimentation and reflection. There is a $20 application fee.

Folger Institute Long-Term Public Humanities Fellowship (International)

GLEAM | 2025 Request for ProposalsFeatured
Olbrich Botanical Gardens invites proposals for temporary, light-based installations for GLEAM, Art in a New Light, a public art exhibition situated within a 16-acre Midwest landscape or a 10,000-square-foot tropical conservatory. To celebrate the 10th anniversary, the theme of the 2025 exhibit is reflection. GLEAM will be open to the public from August 23 to October 25.

$1,800 Innovate Grants for Art + PhotoFeatured
Innovate Grant awards two $1,800 grants each quarter to one visual artist and one photographer. In addition, twelve applicants will receive honorable mentions, be featured on the website, and join a growing community. International artists and photographers working in any medium are eligible.

Open Calls

RAISE YOUR ZINE! 3rd Edition (International)
THE DOCKS invites photographers worldwide to submit to the third edition of RAISE YOUR ZINE! Chosen applicants will produce a fanzine and exhibit work at the RAISE YOUR ZINE! festival in Naples. There is a €15 application fee.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. CET on September 1, 2024. 

Archtober’s “Greetings From…” Postcard Competition (New York City)
The Center for Architecture and Archtober have teamed up for a competition that asks artists to design a 4×6-inch postcard representative of the New York City they envision. Three winning designs will be printed and distributed at the Center for Architecture throughout October 2024. All are invited to submit—architects, illustrators, design enthusiasts, etc.—and there’s a $500 cash prize.
Deadline: 5 p.m. ET on September 3, 2024.

AAP Magazine 42 Shapes (International)
All About Photo is seeking cohesive bodies of work for its 42nd issue centered around shapes and “the elements that abstract into light, texture, shape, and shadow.” Winners will receive $1,000 awards, and the submission fee is $30 per three images.
Deadline: September 3, 2024.

Chorus Arts ‘Featured Artists’ 2024/2025 (U.K.)
A new guest curator overseeing this year’s Chorus Arts program will select up to 10 artists to join the community. Chosen artists will be included in group exhibitions, a book, workshops, and events, and receive guidance from the curator.
Deadline: Septemner 8, 2024.

Artadia Awards (Boston and Atlanta)
Three visual artists will receive unrestricted funds of $15,000, and one artist will receive the Marciano Artadia Award of $25,000. Honorariums will also be provided to finalists.
Deadline: September 15, 2024, for Boston, and October 1, 2024, for Atlanta.

SPIE International Day of Light Photo Contest (International)
Photographers of all levels are invited to submit to this year’s contest under the theme of “The Power of Light,” which considers how light impacts every facet of life. One winner will receive $2,500 with additional prizes ranging from $500 to $1,000.
Deadline: September 16, 2024.

2024 Foundwork Artist Prize: International Open Call (International)
One artist will receive an unrestricted $10,000 grant, and that honoree and three shortlisted artists will also be invited for interviews to further public engagement with their practices. Artists must register and maintain a published profile on Foundwork with at least six artworks and an artist statement throughout the 2024 selection period.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. PT on September 26, 2024.

Gen-Art: Exploring Creativity Across the Generations (U.S.)
GEN-ART is a national all-ages open juried exhibition inviting artists to submit up to three works as a personal representation of their generation. This open call welcomes all mediums and styles, including sculpture, installation, digital, and literature. There is a $30 application fee.
Deadline: October 4, 2024.

The Bennett Prize (International)
Women figurative realist painters are eligible for this prize, which offers one winner $50,000 and a solo show, with an additional finalist receiving $10,000. There is a $40 application fee.

Passepartout Photo Prize (International)
Open to any style, process, or subject matter, this annual prize offers €500, an exhibition in Rome, and a publication. Enter before June 10, 2024, for the early fee of €20.

NSMA International Painting Competition (International)
Open to professionals and students, this competition focuses on contemporary realism in painting, and all subject matter is welcome. One winner will receive $25,000, and finalists will be exhibited at the New Salem Museum and Academy of Fine Art.

Sony World Photography Awards 2025 (International)
Open to photographers worldwide shooting on any device, this contest includes top prizes of $25,000, a solo exhibition in London, Sony digital imaging equipment, press and media coverage, and more.

Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Arts Grants (Manhattan)
Artists, collectives, and nonprofits are eligible for up to $16,000 in funding for arts programming in any discipline in Manhattan.

Vital Impacts Environmental Photography Grants and Mentorships (International)
Vital Impacts is offering one $20,000 grant to an established environmental photographer in the U.S., along with six $5,000 grants to emerging photographers from across the globe. In addition to the grants, the organization will select ten emerging photographers to participate in an intensive mentorship program and invite all applicants to an online mentorship series.
Deadline: September 15, 2024.

Rauschenberg Emergency Grants (U.S.)
These grants of up to $5,000 support direct dental, medical, or mental health-related treatment expenses. Artists working in the visual arts, film, video, electronic, digital arts, and choreography are eligible.
Deadline: 5 p.m. ET on October 1, 2024.

VIA Art Fund Artistic Production Grant (International)
This grant awards individual artists, nonprofit organizations, and institutions between $25,000 and $100,000 to commission works outside museum or gallery walls, within the public realm, or in nontraditional exhibition environments. Projects must have a confirmed exhibition venue.
Deadline: November 4, 2024.

The Adolf and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant (International)
The Adolph and Esther Gottlieb Emergency Grant program provides one-time interim financial assistance to qualified painters, printmakers, and sculptors whose needs resulted from an unforeseen catastrophic incident and who lack the resources to meet that situation. Awardees typically receive $5,000, up to $15,000.
Deadline: Rolling.

Adobe Creative Residency Community Fund (Ukraine)
Adobe’s Creative Residency Community Fund commissions visual artists to create company projects on a rolling basis. Awardees will receive between $500 and $5,000.

Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant (International)
The foundation welcomes applications from actively exhibiting visual artists who are painters, sculptors, and artists who work on paper, including printmakers. Grants are intended for one year and range up to $50,000. The artist’s circumstances determine the size of the grant, and professional exhibition history will be considered.

Residencies, Fellowships, & More

Kimmel Harding Nelson Center for the Arts Residency (International)
The center offers up to 70 two-to-eight-week residencies annually to visual artists, writers, composers, and interdisciplinary artists. Residents receive $175 per week, housing, and a private studio. There is a $35 application fee.

The Hodder Fellowship (International)
Open across disciplines, this fellowship provides $90,000 to artists who spend ten months at Princeton University. No formal teaching is required.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. ET on September 10, 2024.

Princeton Arts Fellowship (International)
Early career visual artists, filmmakers, poets, novelists, playwrights, designers, directors, and performance artists who would benefit from two years of teaching and working at Princeton are eligible for this fellowship. A $ 90,000-a-year stipend is provided.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. ET on September 10, 2024.

MacDowell Residency (International)
Around 300 artists are awarded fellowships annually, which offer a studio, housing, and all meals for up to six weeks. Financial assistance is offered to reimburse travel, rent, lost income, and childcare costs.

Center for Book Arts Artist Residency (New York)
Up to six emerging and mid-career artists will be awarded this year-long residency, which includes a $1,500 stipend of $1500, up to $6,000 in courses offered at CBA, and 24-hour access to CBA’s printing and binding studios in Manhattan.

ARTS Southeast’s ON::View Artist Residency Program (International)
Applications are now open for the On::View Artist Residency Program in Savannah, Georgia. The residency supports artists working in all media. Selected artists gain access to a high-visibility studio space to complete a new project, continue an in-progress endeavor, or to conduct research exploring conceptual, material, performative, and social practices.

Tyler School of Art and Architecture Edgar Heap of Birds Family Artist Residency (International)
This five-month residency is for an artist whose work is focused on the history and lived experience of North American federally recognized tribal citizens and who works in art and activism. The residency includes an individual studio, a $1,500 materials budget, a solo exhibition, and a $3,500 monthly stipend.

McColl Center Summer 2025 Parent + Educator Artists-in-Residence (International)
Parents and educators who otherwise would not have the opportunity to participate in McColl Center residency are eligible for this program. Private housing, studio space, and a $6,000 stipend are available, along with shared 3D, ceramics, and media labs and a woodshop.

2025 Museum of Glass Visiting Artist (International)
A Visiting Artist Residency in the Hot Shop allows artists to explore new ideas and techniques or push the boundaries of a current series. Applicants may typically work in any medium.

The Bray Artist Residencies (International)
Through summer and long-term studio experiences, this program offers the opportunity to work within a community of global artists actively creating new work.

On the Shelf: A Photo Book Exhibition (International)
In conjunction with the 2024 Filter Photo Festival, Filter Photo is hosting an open theme call for well-conceived, original, and compelling photo books, whether self-published, handmade, or commercially published. One winner will receive $500. There is a $25 entry fee.

Prisma Art Prize (International)
This annual art prize is open to artists working in painting, engraving, and drawing and offers exhibition opportunities and €2,300 in cash awards annually. There is a €29 entry fee.

SculptureCenter In Practice Open Call (International)
Artists who haven’t had an institutional solo exhibition in New York City are invited to submit proposals for a solo show, off-site project, publication, performance, and more with SculptureCenter. The project budget is $6,000 with an additional $1,000 artist stipend.
Deadline: 11:59 p.m. ET on August 4, 2024.

Nest Heritage Craft Prize: Women of the West (Wyoming, Nevada, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon, Washington, California, Arizona, Utah, Oklahoma, and Montana)
Women artists and makers are encouraged to submit work that demonstrates their technical mastery and a connection to cultural traditions. One winner receives $25,000 and four semi-finalists will be awarded $2,500 each.

4th Annual Art After Dark at Vero Beach Museum of Art (International)
Digital artists, animators, filmmakers, photographers, and architects are invited to submit their work to be projected at the museum on December 13 and 14.

Five artists and scholars will be invited to Shanghai for a residency from November 1 to December 15, 2024. Residents will participate in public workshops and lectures, exhibit their works, and receive housing, airfare, ¥10,000, and more.

Quinn Emanuel Los Angeles Artists-in-Residence Program (Los Angeles)
Emerging and mid-career artists working in all disciplines are eligible for this four-month residency in the Quinn Emanuel Los Angeles office. Artists receive studio space, $5,000 a month, and up to $1,500 for materials.

Bryn Du Mansion Artist in Residence (U.S.)
Artists of all disciplines are eligible for this program, which offers a $2,000 stipend for an eight-week residency and $3,000 for 12 weeks. Lodging and studio space are provided. There is a $15 application fee.

Corning Museum of Glass (International)
Corning Museum of Glass has applications open for two residency programs. The Black, Indigenous, & People of Color Residency offers artists five weeks of studio space, travel, lodging, and more, while the extended residency program offers up to eight weeks.

Willapa Bay AiR (International)
